Street Champions

Low Carbon Oxford North is looking for people to join the growing group of Street Champions who have volunteered to do what they can to encourage other people in their street to cut their carbon.

At LCON we are taking practical action to combat climate change by helping people in our area to cut their carbon emissions. We aim to make a real difference by bringing people together to work on creating more sustainable lifestyles. Our long term aim is to cut our community carbon dioxide emissions by at least 80 % by 2050, a target set by the UK government.

During our successful outreach project in March 2011, funded by a grant from the Department of Energy and Climate Change, street champions knocked on their neighbours’ doors to follow up the leaflet we had distributed and encourage people to get involved. Some street champions are continuing to work with us by supporting our activities at street level.

What to do if you’re interested

Please act now! If you would like to talk to us about what you might do as a street champion, please get in touch with Rebecca Nestor at LCON as soon as possible.
