Activities
Low Carbon Oxford North has created four community groups that are already working in key areas that can have the greatest impact on cutting CO2, and two more are in the process of being set up. Please get in touch if you would like to know more or get involved.
1. Carbon Conversations

Carbon Conversations is an inspiring six session course on low-carbon living. It runs over a three-month period and aims to help people understand and work with their feelings about climate change.
2. Low Carbon Living Project
We are planning to run an innovative project that will involve as many local households as possible in a project to cut CO2 emissions. Find out how carbon footprinting can be fun and save money as well.
3. Car Clubs and Other Transport Issues
This newly forming group will be looking into the various ways we can reduce our dependency on oil. This will include looking into setting up car clubs and car sharing, as well as promoting cycling and walking.
4. Sustainable Food
From growing your own, to forming local food co-operatives, there is plenty we can do in this area to not only cut CO2 but eat well and cut food bills, too.
5. Investing in Renewable Energy
LCON’s Energy Group is developing a community renewable energy scheme to install solar panels on large roofs in North Oxford. The aim is to lower North Oxford’s carbon footprint, generate cheap renewable electricity for building occupiers, and provide income from the government’s feed-in-tariff to support the community in other carbon-reduction activities. We are hoping to raise funds for this project through a community share offer.
6. Helping to Run LCON
LCON is a small community organisation run by volunteers from the North Oxford area and we are always looking for more support.
